Under the gracious patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, and in the presence of the king representative His Excellency the Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship in Jordan, Mr. Ahmad Al Hanandeh, and a diverse international attendance, the first edition of the Invest in Digital Economy Forum was held in Amman on May 26- 27, 2024.
The forum included a number of events covering various aspects of digital economy and commenced with an official opening ceremony featuring several speeches (see the attached agenda).
The following are the most important recommendations that emerged from the discussions and deliberations of the forum over three days:
- Firstly, highlighting the promising prospects of digital economy diverse spheres for both emerging countries in general and Islamic countries in particular.
- Secondly, it is worth mentioning with pride the significant achievements that have been accomplished in several Islamic countries, whether in terms of digital governments or in the digital financial systems, which have been developed in collaboration with central banks, as well as the significant advancements in the business sector.
- Thirdly, the benefits of this technological revolution in the business sector cannot be achieved without a strategic vision at the national and institutional levels. If this vision is absent, the digital revolution will turn into a real challenge for those who are unprepared.
- Fourthly, one of the great opportunities available to the private sector in Islamic countries is the significant integration that provides an unparalleled opportunity for everyone:
- There is a vast market with a wide range of interests, preferences, and needs.
- The highest percentage of youth under the age of 35 in the world.
- There is a significance excellence in human capital in several countries, from the east to the west of the Islamic countries, providing extensive business centers across a large geographical area.
- In addition, there is the financial capital, and huge companies in various business sectors, as well as impactful stock exchanges that provide global potential for companies.
- Fifthly: Working on developing the forum to become a global platform for everyone in the diverse and evolving digital economy sectors.
- Sixthly: the focus should be on the competition announced during the forum opening ceremony, to serve as a major catalyst for establishing successful startups.
- Seventhly: appreciating the digital transformation initiatives launched in the opening ceremony, emphasizing its implementation in various areas including the private sector with its profit-making and non-profit components.
- Eighthly: strenuous and integral work to solidify Amman position as the capital of digital economy, out of its promising potential and impactful experiences in areas of technology for more than 30 years.
- Lastly, the participants express their gratitude to the Jordanian government and people for the generous hospitality that this land known for. They also extend their thanks to the Jordan Chamber of Commerce for participating in organizing this emerging international event.
